Wall magazine competition in Dhaka for Agami-sponsored schools

On 3 June 2017, Agami Education Foundation successfully completed the judgment of the Wall Magazine Contest – 2017, themed on “Pahela Baishakh-1424” From a number of submissions from 10 Agami-supported schools in three groups, Zannatul Ferdous Keya, a prominent artist, selected the following schools as the winners in different groups:

Last Session of Health Education Courses and the Certificate Ceremony

The last session of Health Education Courses was held on Thursday, 20th April, 2017 at PSD School. Conducted under a joint program of Chemists without Borders and Agami Education Foundation, in this lesson students were taught the importance of sleep. Sometimes they could not sleep properly or they wanted to sleep but couldn’t due to their environment. They were taught how to keep their environment sound free and suitable for sleeping.

Second Teachers’ Training Program in Dhaka by Agami Education Foundation

The second “Teachers’ Training on Teaching Science by Hands-On Practice” was successfully completed by Agami Education Foundation (AEF) on May 4 to 8, 2017. The 5-day session was coordinated by Mrs. Nafisa Khanam, Executive Director of AEF. She was assisted by Mr. Alamgir Hossain and Ms. Lovely Yeasmin from Viqarunnisa Noon School and College on all 5 days. Mr. Mukhlesur Rahman, Senior Specialist at the National Curriculum and Textbook Board (NCTB) also joined the session on the third day.

An Exclusive Interview With Babu Rahman, Cofounder and Founding President of Agami Inc.

In the April 2017 issue of the Agami News, a newsletter of Agami, an exclusive interview with Dr. Babu Rahman was published by Azmeena Sayeed and Mahir Khan, co-editors of the Agami Newsletter. Dr. Babu Rahman, a co-founder of Agami Inc., founding president President, and current Director of Operations-North America. He reflected on his thoughts on how far Agami has come since his early days in charitable work, as well as where he thinks Agami is headed. 

Ambassador Mohammad Ziauddin praises Agami initiatives

A team from Agami Southeast Chapter (ASEC) recently met with the Honorable Ambassador of Bangladesh to the United States, Mr. Mohammad Ziauddin at the Bangladesh Embassy in Washington DC. The team led by ASEC President Farzana Sultana Clara briefed Ambassador Ziauddin on various Agami initiatives including Khan Academy Bangla.

Student Orientation Session on Khan Academy Bangla platform at Hashil School in Jamalpur

Khan Academy Bangla (KAB) implementation team conducted an intensive student orientation session at Hashil School campus in Jamalpur from 18th March 2017 to 20th March 2017. The session included ICT training for the students as well as orientation of the students with the KAB platform. A total of 180 students of grade VI divided into 6 groups (30 students per group) along with 5 mathematics teachers were provided with the orientation training, which lasted for 3 days (2 groups each day). KAB implementation team members, Marjuk Ahmed, Program Associate, Md. Rashedul Haque, Field Associate and Sougatul Quadeer, Field Associate were present there to conduct the sessions.

Visit to Shurer Dhara School at Lalmatia, Dhaka

On 25 February, 2017, a school monitoring team from Agami Education Foundation (AEF) visited the Music for Development (MfD) project established under Shurer Dhara (SD) at Lalmatia, Dhaka. The team included Mansura Amdad (Associate Executive Director, AEF), Najiba Azad (Volunteer) and Maksuda Mahtab (Guest visitor).

‘Importance of Washing Hands’ Lesson at PSD Pearabag School in Mogbazar, Dhaka

The fifth lesson was on ‘Importance of Washing Hands’ which was held at 3.30pm on Thursday on 23rd March, 2017 at PSD School at Mogbazar in Dhaka. I have introduced the class by an practical question that did they wash their hands or not before eating that day. 25 % students said that they washed their hands, but 75% of the present students said that they did not wash their hands before eating.
