First session of Teachers Training in Dhaka by Agami Education Foundation

Agami Education Foundation (AEF) has successfully completed its first “Teachers’ Training on Teaching Science by Hands-On Practice”, in a 5-day long program spanning from 17 to 21 December, 2016. The project director of the Teachers’ Training Program was Mrs. Nafisa Khanam, executive director of AEF. She also acted as a resource person, accompanied by Mr. Alamgir Hossain from Viqarunnisa Noon School and College for 5 days and Mrs. Roseline Sara Gomes from Holy Cross School for one day in this context.

Books from No Barriers Foundation, UK to Pabiazury High School and College, Mymensingh

On the joyous occasion of the Victory Day of Bangladesh, the spirit of victory reverberated among the students of Pabiazury High School and College as they received an assortment of books for their library usage, provided by No Barriers Foundation, UK (NBF) and distributed by Agami Education Foundation (AEF). On December 16, 2016, Mr. Md. Shamim Jafar presented the institution with 29 books on behalf of AEF and NBF.

Michigan Raised Fund for Agami children

Around 45 people from Bangladeshi community gathered at a cultural event at Rochester Hills, Michigan on December 17 afternoon. Despite the weather was cold and snowy, especially at this time of the winter in Michigan, the gathering turned out to be a warm and enlivened one, with the entertainment of songs, poem-recital, films and puthi - all on Bangladesh. The admission was free, however, a voluntary donation toward Agami was politely asked for.

Agami Team visits Nandipara PSD Primary School, Dhaka

A monitoring team from Agami went to visit Nandipara School on the 2nd of June 2016. The team consisted of Md. Zafar Hossain, the School Monitoring Manager and Najiba Azad, a volunteer. The school is situated in a densely populated area of Dhaka, far from the city center. Most of the residents here are low earning people.

Agami Monitoring Team Visits Laxmipur Simanto Bazar Primary School, Jhenaidah

A monitoring team from Agami visited Laxmipur Simanto Bazar Primary School on the 3rd of November, 2016. The team consisted of the School Monitoring Manager and a volunteer. The school, situated in a rural village of Jhenaidah, was established in 2003. This non-government primary school offers classes from pre-primary to grade five.

When They Go Low, We Go High!

AEF monthly 'Lunch and Learn' was held on Saturday, 26th November 2016 at the AEF office on the subject “Moving Forward: Recognizing and Resolving Conflicts”. Agami Central's associate director of finance Amir Rahman Mamun gave an impressive presentation on this topic. AEF executive, volunteers, members and respective staffs did spontaneously participate in the session. The presentation was followed by a question & answer (Q&A) session and finally the participants were entertained by a spicy and delicious lunch.

Khan Academy Bangla at Shah Ali Model School in Dhaka

As a part of Implementation phase, Khan Academy Bangla (KAB) implementation team recently piloted KAB Platform in Hazrat Shah Ali Model High School in grade VI from 15th October 2016 to 25th November 2016.  A total of 42 students, divided into two groups along with two Mathematics Teachers were involved with this implementation phases.  12 classes were conducted successfully using lab model in a lab classroom.  The teachers employed KAB platform as an ICT teaching tool where each student got the chance to work on a desktop computer. It is mentionable that, Hazrat Shah Ali School has a fully equipped computer lab with 25 desktop computers and 3 multimedia projectors. All the computers are connected to Internet.
