One Year of the Library Project

The Library Project (LP), which started its journey in September 2019 with Agami-sponsored schools in Dhaka, completed one year amidst a global pandemic! The main objective of this project was to introduce a library system for the unprivileged children and to encourage students to practice reading outside their regular textbooks.

In the long run, the library project hopes that students will be able to think outside the box and make students question and reflect on what they have read. In its early months, it has successfully conducted four library festivals. The library festivals featured events like spelling competition, storytelling, story writing, recitations, and showing short films.

In the Covid-19 situation, the LP volunteers have helped arrange the interschool online cultural competition, which included singing, art, poem recitation and story writing. We noticed that many LP affiliated schools participated in the story writing event, which means our LP is impacting young minds and will achieve its goals.

Although the near future of the LP is uncertain due to Covid-19, in the longterm it will certainly be able to create a library system for Agami-supported schools inside and outside Dhaka City.
