Agami Year-End Fundraiser (YEFR) Campaign 2022, with a glimpse of Teachers Training's Impact and Growth.

Teachers’ Training

In the second decade of Agami (2011-2020) Agami has shifted efforts from maximizing access to education by quantity to improving the quality of existing education programs. Despite challenges in coordinating with teachers in rural or slum areas, Agami was able to organize several training sessions described in the articles below, aimed at improving the ability to teach in math and science.

The Teachers’ Training program started in December 2016 and is focused on content and methodology of teaching for Math, Science, and English teachers. In January of 2019, the Improving English Teaching (IET) was added in an effort to encourage students to use English in a practical setting through English-speaking workshops with teachers. The Teachers’ Training program cost about $5300 in 2019.

The program aims to run about 5 in-person training sessions annually, however during the covid-19 lockdown the effort has switched to virtual sessions at least once a month. Usually in-person sessions had 10-15 teachers invited from various schools depending on the session topics and availability. With the virtual meetings, more teacher are able to participate despite challenges with access to technology and internet in rural areas.
