Reach to Teach

The mission of Agami EdTech is to develop education technology solutions to improve teaching and learning outcomes in Bangladesh. To that end, Agami is pioneering online teacher training for secondary school teachers in Bangladesh through its Reach to Teach program. The first course under this program for Grade 6 Math teachers has been launched in April 2021 as a pilot for 1200 teachers from across the country. Teachers can enroll in this course on Muktopaath, an e-learning platform of a2i, government of Bangladesh.

The course titled “রিচ টু টিচঃ গণিত শিখন-শেখানো (ষষ্ট শ্রেণি)” or “Reach to Teach: Math Learning-Teaching (Grade 6)” is divided into 12 modules. The objective of the course is to improve both pedagogical and subject (i.e., math) knowledge of the trainees. The first 2 modules focus on foundational pedagogy, while modules 3-11 cover math concepts along with pedagogical instructions on how to effectively teach these math topics in a classroom. The learning outcomes for each math topic in grade 6 as outlined in the national curriculum are also reiterated in these modules. These modules combine Khan Academy Bangla videos with additional instructions from the Agami team to achieve the training goals. The final module consists of a comprehensive 35 question quiz. Teachers are awarded a certificate after successfully completing all modules including the final quiz.

This pilot is funded by the World Bank and is in collaboration with a2i. After completing the pilot this year, it is expected that this course will be included in the TST (time spent teaching) initiative under the Secondary Education Development Program of the government and World Bank. 6,000 teachers are expected to take this course as part of that.

With the success of this initial course, Agami looks forward to bringing more online training courses for our teachers under Reach to Teach.
