A celebration of 20 years: Agami hosts a panel discussion on the future of education in Bangladesh

As part of its 20-year celebration, Agami Inc., a US-based non-profit dedicated to improving education for all children, recently organized a panel discussion on the Future of Education in Bangladesh. Held on March 16, 2024, at Brac Learning Centre, Uttara, the event delved into critical topics such as new curriculum exploration, technology integration, and the evolving role of teachers.

The discussion, moderated by Mr. Mohammad Wahid Hossain, Agami Inc.'s Country Director, brought together esteemed panelists from diverse backgrounds, including international development, policy advocacy, and education. Dr. Ahmad Ahsan, Director of the Policy Research Institute (PRI), Bangladesh, emphasized the pivotal role of education in fostering development, stressing the importance of educators as change-makers. He highlighted the crucial role of technology in equipping and training teachers effectively.

Dr. Akhtar Mahmood, an expert in innovative development approaches, discussed the need for redefining development perspectives to prioritize productivity and innovation. He underscored education's profound influence on Bangladesh's future trajectory.

Dilruba Chowdhury, Director of Agami’s Education Technology Program, showcased Agami's initiatives in introducing personalized, tech-based learning through platforms like Khan Academy Bangla and Kolibri. She pledged continued support for teacher capacity development and the creation of Centers of Excellence to tackle educational challenges effectively. 

Nafisa Khanam, lead of Agami’s Teacher’s Training program, shared insights into the innovative aspects and challenges of implementing the new curriculum. She reassured teachers of the curriculum's benefits and its alignment with best practices in classrooms.

 The audience, comprising 30 teachers from 15 schools, had undergone a three-day training program under Agami EdTech's project "Learning in Tab" before the discussion. Their active participation enriched the conversation, offering valuable perspectives on their experiences and challenges in the education sector.

 The panel discussion underscored the significance of collaborative efforts in shaping the future of education in Bangladesh. By empowering educators, integrating technology, and adapting to evolving curriculum frameworks, Agami and its partners are driving positive change in the education landscape. As the journey continues, the commitment to enhancing educational opportunities for all remains steadfast, promising a brighter future for the nation's youth.

 The event concluded with a sense of optimism and collaboration, as teachers voiced their determination to work together towards a brighter educational future in Bangladesh.
