Teacher's Training 2020 Objectives
Aligned to Agami’s vision in ensuring quality education is delivered, Agami Teachers’ Training is working towards the vision. We believe teachers’ are the bridge to quality education, and without impacting them, we cannot make our vision a reality.
Like the underprivileged students, teachers at underprivileged schools are deprived of resources to learn and teach effectively, hence it’s important to equip teachers with skills and training. Poor salary, lack of training makes teachers limited on textbook teaching. To enhance the textbook-teaching process to a more holistic approach, Agami has been training teachers according to the National Curriculum and Textbook Board (NCTB).
With your contribution of at least $10,000 to this Agami Teachers’ Training program, we can bring a lot of teachers up to speed and impact more students. This multi-dimensional teaching approach is led by Nafisa Khanam, our visionary and executive member of Agami. Her firm commitment and robust experience coupled with your generous donations has made this program a huge success.
This year, we are aiming to reach $75,000 through our “Give me a good mother” campaign and we request your contribution to our year-end fundraiser campaign 2019. Agami, as a 501 (c) 3 non-profit organization relies heavily on your donation to ensure that the children in Bangladesh have access to quality education. Your support is crucial to our efforts in continuously training teachers to align the education standards in the under resourced schools.
Ms. Khanam discusses about the large gap between curriculum, teaching-learning and evaluation process. Students tend to memorize the textbooks without any practical implementation. Students are marked solely on remembering textbook content and less on the other five skills; Comprehension, Application, Analysis, Synthesis and Evaluation. Primarily, it is because of a lack of well trained teachers. To build our next generation as a creative and educated mind, we need to focus on the training of teachers involved in primary and secondary education.
During the several monitoring visits to Agami-sponsored schools, we identified key issues:
Inadequate content knowledge based on NCTB
Poor academic background
Projected 2020 objectives:
Teaching Science with joy for the teachers of class three science teachers
Teaching Mathematics by Olympiad Method for class I
Teachers’ Training on Continuous Assessment (CA)/ Formative assessment for Secondary Science and Language teachers
Teachers’ Training on CA / Formative assessment for Primary subject teachers
Follow up training for Primary English Teachers
We need more than $25,000 in funding to accommodate all the projected objectives in 2020.
