Health Camp - 2023
The health camp at PSD- Pearabag School was held on April 10, 2023. It was organized by the HfE team of Agami Education Foundation for the students to spread awareness about health.
It was conducted by Dr. Mehedi. A total of 80 students attended the camp. Students were advised some types of food and exercise by the doctor to maintain a healthy lifestyle. The doctor identified two mumps parotitis, a few cases of acute tonsillitis, acute pharyngitis, respiratory tract infection, scabies, and chalazion which were addressed with medication or advice.
However, the health camp provided an opportunity for the students to receive important health check-ups and learn about healthy habits.
Health for Education
AEF assists the good health of students by taking up different activities through its Health for Education (HfE) project. This project works in partnership with the Platform of Doctors and medical students in Bangladesh. The project organizes need-based health camps like general health camps, eye camps, and dental camps.
Children who have no home or who for some reason could not be cared for by their parents are placed in orphanages and in schools run by different non-profit voluntary organizations. “Creating a better future through Education” is Agami’s goal. So to reach that goal Agami believes providing health education and care service to students is one of their key roles and responsibilities.
The objectives of the school health program are -
Promotion of positive health
Prevention of diseases
Early diagnosis, treatment and follow up
Awakening health consciousness in children
The provision of a healthy environment
Gender issue awareness
Psychological health and well-being
Keeping these objectives in mind, Agami Education Foundation started a pilot project entitled “Healthcare for Education” in October 2016 at the PSD Pearabag School (primary school). So far, 500 students got the facilities of healthcare and nutrition from this initiative
In 2018 Agami Education Foundation became partnered with “Platform Organization for Medical and Dental Society (POMD)”. Since then both parties are working jointly to overcome the daunting challenges now in the health of underprivileged children and expanded its activities to 4 schools within Dhaka city. So far, more than 30 health camps were held so far and the coverage is above 1500.
During COVID-19, 3 online awareness programs were held titled ‘Awareness on Health Safety Measures against COVID-19 & How Should We Use a Mask?’, ‘Let’s Be Prepared for the Second Wave of COVID-19' and ‘করোনায় করণীয়ঃ সতর্কতা, যত্ন এবং সহযোগিতা. HfE provided telemedicine services (24x7) to more than 3000 beneficiaries consisting of guardians and students in collaboration with the Platform of Physician and Medical students. In September 2020, we distributed 5000 masks among students which were donated by a ready-made garment manufacturer group.
