AEF took an initiative to interview some heroic sons of Bangladesh, local freedom fighter of the 1971 liberation war. The program was initiated by Mrs. Nafisa Khanam and supported by Mr. Somiron Gregory and Mrs. Israt Sharmin. Through these interviews AEF recalled and paid tributes to Bangabandhu Shaikh Mujibur Rahman on his centennial birth anniversary for his sacrifice and leadership to rally the nation to seek independence.

The initiative would impact the students’ growth of patriotism. Our main objectives were to introduce our students to real life freedom fighter preferably from their own locality, so that they are inspired to create an AEF documentary and to publish a booklet on the biographical history of the interviewed freedom fighters. AEF will provide the booklet and the video documentary to every AEF school so that students can read and watch them for learning history and foundation of the nation.

To name a few of the selfless freedom fighters: Bir Protik Shahzaman Mozumder, Md. Nazim Uddin, Md. Shahjahan Ali, Commander Abdul Khalek, Md. Khaled were interviewed by the AEF team. At the conclusion of each interview sessions, the freedom fighters were presented with a crest engraved with their names which was designed by AEF as a mark of respect. Students joined with great interest to ask their desired questions to know more about the challenging days during the liberation war. AEF feels proud and fortunate to have the opportunity to host these glorified souls.
