EdTech Looks to 2022

Dilruba Chowdhury, Director of Education Technology sends a message about EdTech’s plans for the upcoming year:

As we welcome 2022, I look back at the beginning of 2021 and the launch of Agami EdTech with it’s first project “Reach to Teach” in collaboration with World Bank and A2i. It was an exciting time to transition into Agami EdTech and it has been an eventful journey so far with a few highlights as follows:

  1. 800+ grade 6 math teachers completed online training under "Reach to Teach" (Phase 1) on pedagogy and subject knowledge. We introduced innovative approaches in designing and developing the course and the teachers were very appreciative.

  2. Virtual assessment of 1300+ teachers via Zoom-based simulation classes under "Reach to Teach" (Phase 2). This was a novel and cost effective approach in teacher assessment executed for the first time as a pilot in Bangladesh.

  3. Received a 2 year grant from Internet Society Foundation to implement Agami EdTech Program in 20+ schools in 2022-2023 in partnership with Learning Equality.

  4. Agami EdTech Platform was piloted by teachers in 14 schools of BRAC Education Program to conduct weekly Zoom classes during summer. Following this successful pilot, plans are underway to roll out the program in 85 BRAC schools in 2022.

  5. Signed a 2 year partnership with Serve Foundation to implement Agami EdTech Program in Serve Foundation sponsored schools.

  6. Developed a project with UNICEF, to introduce "Blended learning with EdTech" in Bandarbon in 2022. Congratulations to all of you for your contribution in making all
these happen in Year 1. While we celebrate the above achievements of 2021, we are faced with a sobering thought. The pandemic related education challenges we saw at the beginning of the year are yet to be overcome or even addressed in a significant way.

My wish for the new year is that we as an organization, as a team and as individuals working in the education sector renew our resolve and rise to the challenge of saving the future of so many children
impacted by learning loss. We can and must do our part!!

Wishing each of you a wonderful new year and see you all soon.

Take care,
Dilruba Chowdhury
