Shaping the Future: What Alissa Monir Learned During Her Agami Internship
Agami summer internship : Alissa Monir's learnings
Agami is dedicated to helping underprivileged children by providing basic education, teacher
training, and support for public health and finances for poor families. Their mission is to ensure that children can unlock their full potential through quality education. Volunteers play a crucial role in achieving this mission. They can help by delivering school supplies, teaching, writing about Agami's operations and impacts, fundraising, and monitoring projects. If someone enjoys communicating, networking, or creating graphic designs, they can contribute to the marketing
team as well. Agami offers membership to individuals aged 18 and above. Members enjoy benefits such as running for office, voting, and nominating directors, receiving updates on programs and their
impact, organizing events, and attending invitations to hear more about Agami's work.
There is a membership fee required for this, but joining also offers a chance to get involved in meaningful
projects. Agami also has an internship program, where people can learn more about the
organization and its work. One of the unique programs Agami offers is the Chess Guide Program, designed to strengthen students’ minds through chess. In addition, Agami's EdTech program uses Khan Academy to support students and teachers in Bangladesh, especially with subjects like math and science. They also organize teacher training sessions to enhance their teaching abilities. This program,
which cost thousands of dollars, aims to improve how math and science are taught.
Another important initiative is the Health for Education project. This program hosts medical
camps, such as health, eye, and dental camps, to promote better health and create healthier
environments for children and their families.
The "Life is Fun" program focuses on teaching young Bengali students basic science, sparking
interest in the subject early. Agami also works on improving English teaching to enhance
children's chances of success in the future. Recently, Agami launched a Knitting program to
empower women by helping them become more independent, enabling them to contribute to
family decisions by running businesses through crafting.
In addition, Agami runs a Library Project, which encourages children to enjoy reading. They
build libraries in schools, with books collected through donations or funds.
In all these ways, Agami is committed to creating lasting positive impacts in the lives of children,
teachers, and families.
