Agami (www.agami.org) is a non-profit organization, dedicated to promoting education for the underprivileged children in Bangladesh. Agami was founded in the USA in 2003, and Agami Education Foundation is a sister organization with offices in Dhaka, Bangladesh. Agami works with primary and high schools across Bangladesh. In addition to providing basic support to ensure an academically enriching and welcoming environment in these schools, Agami firmly believes in bringing the latest innovations in education technology to the underprivileged children in Bangladesh. Agami’s EdTech Program as described below is one such key initiative.
Agami launched its first EdTech intervention in 2011, with the goal of bringing the much-acclaimed Khan Academy (www.khanacademy.org) educational videos and other resources to the underprivileged students in Bangladesh. In March 2016, the Khan Academy Bangla website (bn.khanacademy.org) was launched with support from Grameenphone. We continued developing our own videos, exercises and other educational content. In partnership with Learning Equality (www.learningequality.org), we are introducing their offline education platform called Kolibri with our developed content to schools across Bangladesh. Additionally, we are building partnerships with bodies like UNICEF, World Bank, a2i, BRAC to contribute to the national effort to develop the competency level of our students and teachers.
We are currently seeking a Program Coordinator, Content to join our EdTech team as full-time staff of Agami Education Foundation in Dhaka, Bangladesh. The primary responsibility of this position will be to contribute to the educational content development activities of different projects.
Area of Content Development:The team is currently working on three specific areas of secondary Mathematics and Science:
- Video content creation: Videos where topics are explained to support the learner
- Practice problem-solving (exercises) and article creation: Problem-solving exercises that consist of a set of problems with step-by-step rationale to help the learner practice the topic and earn competencies
- Localization: Localizing exercises and articles for local use and for the platform
- Generate creative ideas for engaging and interactive digital learning materials.
- Develop digital educational content (videos, exercises, and localization) on Mathematics, Language, Science, and ICT for both primary and secondary level students.
- Localizing contents for local use.
- Assist in reviewing, evaluating, and ensuring the quality, accuracy, and appropriateness of various types of content
- Assisting in developing ideas to improve and contextualize Agami EdTech content for use
- Explore relevant content and thorough research of NCTB books to ensure the accuracy and relevancy of content
- Adapt to stay current with the latest trends in educational content, evolving learner preferences, and changes in the edtech landscape
- Collaborate with subject matter experts and instructional designers to create curriculum-aligned educational content
- Share insights with the content team and improve content based on feedback
- Maintaining communication with freelancers and part-time content developers as needed.
- Develop and maintain consistent, clear, and timely communication and reporting for all activities, issues, and updates with the relevant personnel in Agami EdTech
- Graduates from any discipline preferably from the field of STEM (Science, Technology, Engineer, Math)
- Minimum 2 years of experience in EdTech or relevant field
- Experience in educational content creation.
- Experience in instructional design or content creation will be given preference
- Knowledge of curriculum and contemporary EdTech content is preferred
- Highly motivated and interested in “access to learning for less privileged community”
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Your Remuneration will be BDT 30,000 - 35,000/-
- Work Days will be 5 days/week with a weekend on Thursday and Friday
- Yearly 2 festival bonus
- There will be a 3 month probation period where festival bonus are not applicable for this employment

A proper video process particularly involves three steps-
- Planning and concept development- Helps to organize the entire video and project properly.
- Scripting - A detailed script for the video
- Video recording - presenting the lesson and video recording
How we like the script to be:
- Format: In a word file
- Medium: medium of content/instruction is Bangla
- Language: Use Standard language that is not overly bookish. Avoid using English words or other informal terms.
- Complete and Independent: Ensure the discussion of the topic in the script is complete. The videos should be independent, sufficient and age specific to grade level to understand a particular topic. If needed, provide micro-explanations related to the topic to aid understanding.
- Content structure:
- Mention the learning goal at the top of your script.
- Briefly explain the topic, focusing on specific learning goals.
- The script should be detailed and reflect the final video.
- Include a relevant real-life context, story, or example that is easy to understand, universal, and matches the cultural context of Bangladesh. Ensure it is sensitive to gender, religion, culture, and politics, and can be easily replicated by learners.
Instruction for video recording:
- Mode: Using your available device – video (no human presence) with handwriting or any other mode you have the opportunity to work on. Or at least an audio recording of the content.
- Length: We request that you complete the video in 2-3 minutes, not more than that.
- Organize all the elements you want to include in the video.
- Make sure you use a clear voice, audible sound, and proper pronunciation.
- The tone should be conversational and friendly.
- If you include handwriting, make sure it's visible. If you have the opportunity, great; if not, it's fine if you don't have the device to use.
- Explain the topic clearly.
- Be confident in what you are explaining.
- Follow your script.

How we like an Exercise to be: The exercises should be sufficient tools to assess specific learning goals. You need to create both the questions and the solutions. The instructions are:
- Format: Word file
- Medium: Medium of content/instruction is Bangla
- Language: Only in Bangla. The language of the questions should be simple and clear. Avoid confusing statements.
- Content structure: Major parts are mentioned below and must be structured accordingly:
- Goal: Mention your learning goals.
- Item/Question: Create three different simple questions on the topic. The stem of the question may include a real-life incident, images, graphs, etc. Here is your chance to show creativity.
- Answer: Provide answers in three specific modes: a. Write/Input answer, b. Multiple choice (single selection), c. True/False
- Solution: You have to solve the problem as well. However, the target of the solution is to show the rationale of an operation in steps, where you reveal a ‘hint’ in each step to guide students towards the solution. -For example, the first hint will be about the conceptual knowledge that students need to solve the problem. Then, show the first step towards the solution. Ideally, there should be 3-5 hints for each problem. The last step of the hints will reveal the correct answer.
- Key points: These will assist you in developing an exercise according to our preference:
- Difficulty Level: Maintain the difficulty level of the question according to the grade level and learning goals.
- Vocabulary: Use grade-appropriate words.
- Conventions: Follow NCTB-approved textbooks and Bangla Academy spelling conventions when creating exercises.
- Engagement: The exercise should be engaging for students and include practical examples to enhance understanding.
- Proper word usage and careful attention to spelling are essential.

How we prefer the localization task to be done:
- Localization does not refer to word-for-word translation; it goes beyond translation, requiring the text to be adapted to the desired language (e.g., English to Bangla, and vice versa).
- Keep an eye on grammar and spelling.
- Use standard format of sentences.
- Use spontaneous standard language. Avoid bookish language.
- Do not oversimplify the statements. Keep the originality.
- Avoid copy-pasting from Translator tools, this will be the wisest.
- Use Avro (phonetic) fonts for writing.
