Annual Membership Renewal

Dear Agami Supporter,

Happy Independence Day! We thank you for being a part of Agami and your continuous support.

This is a friendly reminder to pay your 2019-20 membership fee of US$50 as soon as possible in case you have not paid already. The following highlights from the Agami Bylaws (Article II Section 1) can be noted:

  • A voting member must pay annual dues.

  • Volunteers shall have no annual membership and shall have no voting rights.

  • Volunteers may become voting members by paying annual membership fee.

  • All voting members will constitute the General Body of Agami.

Please note here that the definition of membership period was defined by the Board of Directors in May 2015: “The Board has decided to change the membership duration from one Annual General Meeting (AGM) to the next AGM (instead of calendar year)”. For example, anyone paying membership dues after the 2019 AGM (September 2019) will not have to renew membership until after the 2020 AGM.

Also note that the AGM 2020 is being planned for the summer of 2020. All (three) Board of Director (BoD) positions are up for election this year. Your membership needs to be in good standing to vote as well as to run for a BoD position. Any Executive Committee (EC) member, of Agami Inc. or its Chapter, also needs to be an Agami member in good standing.

Education is one of the most important routes out of extreme poverty. Agami's mission is to create lasting socio-economic change in Bangladesh through education. Through our programs and partners, we create a holistic solution of basic and quality education for the most disadvantaged and underprivileged children, skills training for adults, and public health and economic initiatives for families. Agami believes that supporting the growth of a school will have a sustainable impact on the quality of education and in the lives of the underprivileged children attending school. Agami’s impact on education would not be so powerful if not for the support and volunteer work of our members, volunteers and interns that advance our mission on a daily basis. Get involved shaping and steering the direction of Agami by becoming a member.

Benefits
You may already be an Agami donor, supporter, volunteer or campaigner. Becoming a member gives you some direct involvement in the activities and determining the direction of Agami. As a member you can:

  • Join your local Agami Chapter, run for office, and become an executive committee member

  • Nominate and vote to elect Agami’s board of directors during election

  • Organize and take part in events in your local area

  • Receive invitations to hear more about our work

  • Receive regular communications about Agami’s program and projects and their impact

  • Your membership fee compensates part of the overhead cost of Agami’s operational activities

Eligibility
Membership of Agami is open to any US resident, minimum 18 years of age, who agrees to adhere to Agami’s bylaws, mission and vision.
